STEM Nova

In an effort to bring STEM into the Boy Scouting program the BSA has introduced a variety of Nova and Supernova Awards for all levels of scouting; Cub, Boy Scouts, and Venturing.

Leslie Dickson is a Nova/Supernova Mentor for the Verdugo Hills Council.  She has compiled a curriculum, worksheets and requirements to make it easy to bring STEM to your Pack, Troop or Crew.

REPORTING:
Supernova Awards are reported with the Supernova Application found on scouting.org.  A different application is required for each different Supernova Award.
Nova Awards use the standard Unit Advancement form (34403) that is used for the entire unit.  This will be a change for cub units since they don't usually use this form.

AWARDS:
Supernova medals are >$20 so some packs choose to have the parents pay for the medallion.
Nova patch and pi pin is cheaper at ~$5 and the pack will sometimes absorb that cost (akin to belt loops).  Your pack leadership should decide the best policy for your pack.

This is a work in progress.  Check back in spring 2015 for Boy Scout Nova Curriculum.
