Cub Scouting is about doing, learning, making friends, and enjoying activities as a family and a unit. Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack.

Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging.

How Is It Organized?

In Cub Scouts, the Pack is the "parent" organization, and is run by the Pack Leadership Committee. Each Pack is made up of multiple "Dens" which are smaller units that align with the rank and school year of the Cub Scouts. There are dens for Tiger Scouts (1st graders), Wolves (2nd Graders), Bears (3rd Graders), Webelos I's (4th Graders) and Webelos II's (5th Graders). After 5th Grade, Scouts who continue on their Scouting journey advance to Boy Scouts.

Each Den usually meets twice a month for one hour to work on rank advancment and awards.  All the Dens meet as a Pack once a month for 2 hours at Dunsmore Auditorium.  In between, we usually have at least one fun outing per month!



How Much Does It Cost?
Cost depends on how hactive you and your Scout are.  Dues are usually average about $50 per year.  Plus, the Scout is responsible for fundraising an additional $50 through mistletoe sales.

Scouts have the opportunity to lower their overall cost through fundraising, and in the process learn the value of hard work, rewards, and the value of their effort. What you gain from Scouting far outweighs the cost!

A Scout uniform is required, and can be purchased through our local Council.

What Types of Activities Do We Do?

Scouting activities are diverse, age-appropriate, and always an opportunity to learn something, gain new skills, and have a good time as a family. Here's just a short list of the types of things we do:

• Camping and hiking
• Pinewood Derby Races and other "Rain Gutter Regatta" Race
• Earn Academic and Sport pins and belt loops
• "Scouting for food" which helps local food banks
• Holiday events, such as caroling  
• Charity and volunteer work
• Field trips - like rock climbing, roller skating, bowling and more!
• Fundraising - sell popcorn, mistletoe and more to help offset the cost!
• Perform Skits, learn songs,
• Make friend, learn new skills, and just have fun!
